Hello, and welcome to the classroom Wikispace, I hope you have enjoyed your travels! My name is Lauren Luettich and I am your child's second grade teacher. I have recently graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Illinois State University, go Redbirds! While reaching my degree I also endorsed in Reading, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies. I am very passionate about teaching, and excited to work with you and your child during this school year!
In my free time I like to spend it with my family, especially my two nephews, and friends. My hobbies include reading, swimming, decorating, and shopping! This is my first year teaching, so I want to encourage you to learn with our classroom. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments please feel free to contact me. I am available through e-mail or by phone and would enjoy meeting the families of my students. My e-mail address is llluett@ilstu.edu and the school phone number is (630) 545-9846. I look forward to meeting or hearing from you!
My Educational Philosophy...
The many summers as a child when I played school with the neighborhood children and took on the teacher role, I knew teaching was my calling for a career. At college, being a part of the education program at Illinois State University I was considered an “educated voice.” Along with being given that title there comes an experience of being able to morally and intellectually know yourself and how you learn. This key aspect has made me the teacher I am today, by having specific values for myself, the classroom, and especially my students.
In my classroom a very important aspect is appreciating diversity, by being able to have sensitivity towards the varieties of individual needs, cultural differences, and learning styles. Having respect for learning and a seriousness of personal, professional, and public purpose, are all necessary traits to have as an educator. I think that by receiving a diploma, being an advocate for my students, and engaging myself in my career, certainly show that learning is an important part to my life.
As a teacher one of the most important pieces to the classroom is allowing for intrinsic enthusiasm and valuing creativity and imagination, while being in a safe environment. In my experience the more a teacher is involved and enthusiastic in the classroom, with the use of creativity, the more students are going to want to learn and participate. These expectations that I hold for myself show in my students, by their wanting to learn, explore, and work hands on. Together we are learning and developing our purpose in education.
